Self-employed
- Will be covered under the new Pandemic Unemployed Assistance program or PUA.
- Specifics will be forthcoming. Independent contractors will need to provide proof of earnings, probably with 1099's.
- Since this is a new benefit and the website will need to be updated.
- Claimant will file online https://unemployment.state.ok.us/.
- It will say that they are denied or not eligible. That is okay, this allows information to be put into the system.
- Call the call center to discuss with a representative since they are self-employed.
- When filing online, there is a question, “Are you seeking employment”. It is not necessary to be actively seeking work under the Governor’s executive order. It is suggested to put “Yes” then in the next drop down selecting “COVID-19”.
If someone believes
they are wrongfully denied for this or any reason, then call the call
center.

U.S.
Department of The Treasury
IRS
The
Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Unit offers the following
advice for avoiding fraud and scams related to the Coronavirus:
- Federal agencies will not email or text individuals regarding Coronavirus economic impact payments. If an unsolicited email or text comes from a federal agency with information about the money or anything else related to the Coronavirus, it is a scam that could infect someone’s computer with malware or ransomware.
- There is no fee to receive stimulus money. If someone says there is, they are a con artist, and you should terminate the conversation.
- No one can expedite payments. Do not trust anyone claiming to be able to perform this service.
- Stay updated by visiting the U.S. Department of Treasury at https://home.treasury.gov/, or the IRS at https://www.irs.gov/.
